Despite the defeat, the team ends the year out of the relegation zone with 14 points, in 12th place.
Málaga attempted to open the scoring straight after kick-off with a shot from Míriam. The ball didn’t find the net and the match turned in favour of the opposition. Possession went to the visitors whilst Málaga Femenino defended the challenges from the rival. However, a long shot from Patri Guijarro in 16’ surpassed Chelsea to take Barcelona 0-1 in front. Physical power was a plus for the rival and in 24’ Toni Duggan made it 0-2, which was protested by the Malaguista fans for potentially being offside. The Blue and Whites sought to intimidate the goal defended by Sandra Paños. Adriana tried her luck with a shot from 30 metres away but didn’t manage to convert. There wasn’t time for much more and at half-time the scoreboard remained at 0-2 in FC Barcelona’s favour.
In the second half, Dominika stepped on to the field of play in substitution of Celia. Málaga stepped up their attack and approached Paños’ goal with a right-footer from Emcarni that narrowly missed out on the 1-2. However, luck wasn’t on the side of the Blue and Whites and in 67’ Martens took the rival to a 0-3 lead. Time went on without a change of fortune for the locals, and in 79’ Patri Guijarro made it 4-0, the definitive result. Málaga fought to score a goal but the ball didn’t make it past the goal defended by Sandra Paños.
Despite the defeat, Málaga CF Femenino remain in 12th place in the table with 14 points, away from the relegation zone.
