Willy: “We need to put on a stronger performance in home games”
Málaga CF’s Willy Caballero, Antunes and Juanmi attended to the assembled media in the mixed zone following the match against Athletic Club de Bilbao at La Rosaleda.
Willy
The ‘Malaguista’ keeper tells MCF TV: “We’re really disappointed yet again as we let three points leave La Rosaleda. We need to put on a stronger performance in home games, which we’re not doing at the moment. The worst thing is we’re not maintaining a high-defensive line.” However Willy is determined to turn the situation around against Villarreal: “Our next game is about more than winning, it’s about boosting team morale and getting back our positivity. Of course I hope we get the three points, but if not we need to show we’re a solid team for 90 minutes. We weren’t the same team during the entire match tonight, which is what we need to work on.”
Antunes
The Portuguese-born left-back comments: “Once again we started off well in the first half, with two or three good chances to score, and we got a goal before the half-time whistle. However in the second half, Athletic scored from a set piece and again due to a lack of our concentration. It’s vital that we continue to work as hard as possible to be more prepared for these difficult rivals. If we don’t start scoring more points it’s going to get very difficult.”
Juanmi
Tonight’s goal-scorer, Juanmi, looks ahead to the next League match: “It’s crucial that we look to the future, we’ve got a chance to turn things around on Friday against Villarreal. We need to remain focused and come home with a much-needed three points.”
