One of the team captains, Alberto Escassi, held a press conference today: “It’s the most important game of the season against a very direct rival,” he stated.
Regarding #MálagaRacing, “in our minds there’s no room for anything other than victory. It’s the most important game of the season against a very direct rival. The closest thing to a final. In our house, with our fans. It’s a crucial match for the future,” said Escassi who says of the dressing room “emotionally we’re fine as the work we do each day is great.”
“We’re aware of the momentous game coming up on Sunday, and we want the three points to stay at La Rosaleda. The squad isn’t looking beyond Sunday. It would be a mistake to focus on the numbers. The matches are getting less and less, but the way to deal with this situation is to take each one at a time,” he added.
“We’re in a difficult situation, but the team trains hard every day and this week is even more important, if that’s possible, against a direct rival that we have to beat,” said the Blue and White number '23'. “We have to see that need to win. We must focus on the small details, the lack of concentration and ensure it doesn’t happen as this is vital to achieve the objective,” he stated.
For Escassi, “the mental factor is very important, it’s essential to manage that pressure. But when you sign for a team like Málaga, you know it's a huge club and with that comes the pressure. We have to go out to win,” he said, going on to highlight the defensive factor: “The objectives are achieved from a clean sheet and strong defence. We know that we’ll reach the objective from the defence, being very serious in what we need to do, and those upfront, with the talent they have, will surely give us points and score many goals.”
“I understand the fans, people want to see facts and for us to give our all on the pitch. The group has a positive mentality, and we are going to take this game forward. In the dressing room we’re absolutely convinced we’ll win. On a personal note, “physically I feel really good,” he concluded.
