Victory against a First Division rival (1-0)

A win for Málaga CF against Real Valladolid CF with a goal from captain Adrián in the first of the friendly fixtures for the Blue and Whites this preseason.

The Dama de Noche Football Pitches by Football Impact hosted the Blue and Whites’ first friendly of the summer preseason against Real Valladolid.

Malaguista coach, Sergio Pellicer selected the starting-11 made up exclusively of MCF Academy players. Youth and freshness brought to the team by Gonzalo, Ismael, Juande, Mini, Cristo, Álex Benítez, Quintana, Ramón, D. Larrubia, Julio and Mike.

The homegrown players enjoyed a solid initial 45 minutes, barely granting any options to the First Division rival. A true test of maturity, brilliantly resolved. At half-time the scoreboard remained 0-0.

In the second half, the Blue and White coach opted for a more experienced line-up: Munir, Cifuentes, Lombán, Luis Hernández, Juankar, Rolón, Quintana, Adrián, Tete, Larrubia and Hoyos stepped on to the pitch after half-time.

The match continued to follow the script, staying even between both sides and with great solvency in both teams’ defence.

As the game reached the final stages, Malaguista captain Adrián opened the scoring (80’). The midfielder made the most of a clearance in the heart of the area to put the Blue and Whites 1-0 in front with an opportunistic shot. The goal became definitive with the referee’s final whistle.

A victory with a great flavour, despite no points being at stake, against a LaLiga Santander rival.
