Málaga CF have signed Cádiz-born winger Álvaro Vadillo until the end of the season, on loan from RCD Espanyol in LaLiga Santander.
Álvaro Vadillo Cifuentes (Puerto Real, Cádiz, 1994) is a skilled attacking midfielder raised in the Real Betis Balompié youth ranks. After passing the medical exam on Tuesday he visited the Club's offices and officially signed his new contract accompanied by Málaga CF’s sporting director, Manolo Gaspar.
Four First Division promotions
Within the ranks of the Betis first team, he made his First Division debut at 16 years of age in the 2011/12 season. In 14/15, with Betis, he achieved – as champion – the first of his four promotions to the Spanish footballing elite.
Following a lengthy spell with Betis, in the 16/17 season he signed to SD Huesca, enjoying an impressive individual level, scoring seven goals in 34 league games (counting two First Division promotion matches). The following year, he achieved a historic ascent to LaLiga Santander with Huesca.
Vadillo continued his idyll in the silver division with another promotion at Granada CF in the 18/19 campaign, as an indisputable part of the team (40 games, 38 in the starting-11, and four goals). In LaLiga 19/20 he stood out with Granada (22 games, three goals) and signed to RC Celta.
During the 20/21 season, he was loaned out to RCD Espanyol, who moved up to the First Division as undisputed champions, and signed Vadillo into ownership for the current 21/22 season.
International
Álvaro Vadillo, during his time with Real Betis, was a regular fixture with Spain in the U-20, U-19 and U-17 categories.
