Unicaja will be Blue and White against Joventut

The Malagueño team will wear the Malaguista colours on 30th April as a show of support in this final stretch of the season.

The union between Málaga CF and Unicaja Baloncesto goes beyond the norm. The twinning between these clubs that share a large part of the fans has been evident on various occasions. Several examples are the welcome for the Unicaja team when they were proclaimed champion of the ACB Cup at La Rosaleda or the joint solidarity shirt to raise funds for the devastating fire in Sierra Bermeja. However, what will take place on 30th April at the Martín Carpena will be historic, the green players will don the Blue and White for the first time.

The chosen match is the duel against Joventut de Badalona (Sunday 30th at 18:30), a match that could be decisive in the final standings of Liga Endesa as both teams fight for the top positions in the table.

Unicaja Baloncesto will change its traditional green colour to wear our Blue and White colours as a show of support in these complex circumstances. They also believe we can do it. A special shirt that exemplifies the brotherly relationship between the two clubs, that was emotionally received at La Rosaleda’s facilities.

José María Muñoz, Málaga CF’s judicial administrator says of this emotional gesture on behalf of Unicaja Baloncesto: “It’s an initiative that aims to unite the two sets of fans, show that we are two clubs that have always gone hand in hand, together in victories and defeats, and who support one another during important moments. I am grateful to Unicaja for once again showing that they stand together with Málaga, because Málaga will always be part of Unicaja's army. At a time when the entire city is united to move forward in the face of adversity, this is the way to make the path clear to make ourselves better and stronger. Support us.”

For his part, the president of Unicaja Baloncesto explains the initiative: “We decided to make this commemorative shirt because the clubs of the city have to stick together at all times, especially when things get difficult. These are times to stick by Málaga CF more than ever. The fans have already shown many signs that they are united, I remember how our anthem sounded at La Rosaleda not long ago. There are even many fans who have season tickets for both teams and are loyal to Carpena and La Rosaleda. Now, with this gesture we want to go a step further to demonstrate the union that exists between the two great clubs in the city.”

A city united by a passion. Thanks Unicaja, Málaga believes! Believing is achieving!
