Pellicer: “We’re all behind the cause”

The Blue and White manager held a press conference this Friday before #LugoMálaga on Sunday. “Many fans will be sleeping on the bus and the only way to compensate them is with maximum effort and giving everything,” he stated.

Sergio Pellicer, Málaga CF coach, held a press conference today at La Rosaleda’s ‘Juan Cortés’ press room ahead of the LaLiga SmartBank matchday 37 fixture against CD Lugo.

Firstly, he referred to the hundreds of Malaguistas who will be in Lugo: “In the situation we are in, the team will be fighting and the fans cheering us on. Many fans will be sleeping on the bus and the only way to compensate them is with maximum effort and giving everything in each game.”

Pellicer analysed the Red and White team: “We are facing an opponent who is in a critical situation, with four draws from their last home games. Despite the standings, they’re a tough team to beat at home. They have been in the category for 11 years, which highlights their pride. We’re ready, we’re seeing a recognisable team and we want to continue that way. We have to compete every minute and treat every play as if it were the last.”

The Malaguista coach underscored the squad’s commitment: “They are all committed, all behind the cause. Success lies with those who aren’t playing as they increase competitiveness and prevent those who are participating from relaxing. My eyes are shining seeing the work they’re doing on a daily basis. Someone can show up in Lugo and make it a magical moment.”

On Pellicer's horizon is “to achieve three consecutive victories, which we haven't achieved for a long time, and to continue breaking barriers.”

Lastly, he commented on the initiative of Unicaja Baloncesto to play the match against Joventut in an exclusive Blue and White shirt: “Unicaja, Málaga, the Blue and White fans and the Greens are all together. We are very grateful, unity is strength. They marked the way in the Copa del Rey that the impossible doesn’t exist. We are at the limit, and we need a victory every week. The other day was such an exciting win, with many children who were at La Rosaleda for the first time. The union with Unicaja is key and pushes us to keep fighting.”
