Hard-fought victory against San Fernando (1-0)

The Blue and Whites defeated San Fernando CD Isleño at La Rosaleda this Sunday on Primera Federación matchday 6, thanks to a Kevin Medina goal in 36’, to reach 15 points.

Málaga CF and San Fernando CD Isleño locked horns this Sunday 1st October at 20:00 on Primera Federación matchday 6. A total of 21.622 fans were cheering on the lads at La Rosaleda, shaking the foundations of the stadium.

The match got off to an intense start, with the Blue and Whites attempting to dominate the ball and create danger with direct play, but the rival contained the attacks and paced the game as the minutes passed.

Pellicer’s men, with the starting line-up comprising of Herrero; Jokin, Einar, Nelson Monte, Victor; Genaro, Sangalli, Kevin, Larrubia; Dioni and Roberto enjoyed several dangerous opportunities.

Striker Roberto tried his luck in the 17th minute from the edge of the area after rescuing a lost ball from the opposing defence. However, the intentional shot went high. In minute 21, Nelson headed a set piece from the right wing into the heart of the area to seek out another teammate with a clear goal position, but he didn’t find another Blue and White player.

The Malaguistas, spurred on by their fans, managed to take the lead in the 36th minute. Víctor featured in a great attack on the left that ended with a powerful shot. Yet the rival keeper guessed his intention and deflected the attempt, but the rebound landed close to Kevin who intelligently headed the ball into the back of the net (1-0, 36').

Shortly before half-time, Kevin was millimetres away from securing one of the actions that remains engraved in fans' retinas. He launched a lateral free lick with hardly any angle, hitting the ball with such force and effect that it crashed violently into the crossbar to the disbelief of those present. Without any further notable opportunities, the match reached half-time.

As the second half got underway, the Blue and Whites continued with their match script. In the 58th minute, Larrubia gained possession in midfield and rode with all his strength down the right wing. Roberto was accompanying him, and the forward, who picked up the assist well, ran into the visiting keeper who stopped the attempt in its tracks.

The number 19 had another chance in minute 79, which again culminated in a one-on-one with Fuoli on the edge of the area. The striker left the pitch to a round of applause when he made way for Loren in minute 81. Juanpe also came on for Sangalli.

In the final stages of play, San Fernando advanced lines in search of an equaliser and the Blue and Whites came out in transitions, but the result remained the same, keeping the three points at La Rosaleda.

With this fifth win on the bounce, Málaga CF are in second place of Primera Federación Grupo Sur with 15 points. The next match is on Sunday 8th at 20:00 against Recreativo de Huelva at the Nuevo Colombino.
