A goal from Harper in the first half (24’) and a superb Munir gave victory to the Malaguistas, who now have 9 points out of 9 from the first three LaLiga 1|2|3 games of the season.
Malaguista coach Juan Ramón López Muñiz, opted for a starting-11 with two forwards (Harper and Blanco Leschuk) and the new addition of Dani Pacheco on the left wing. Adrián accompanied N’Diaye in midfield, whilst the right wing was for Renato Santos. The defence was the same as against Lugo and Alcorcón. Munir was in goal. Málaga CF came out better at the start of play. Pacheco was highly active on the left. His was the first shot at goal of the match, in minute 16, which was saved by René without too much trouble. Almería approached Munir’s goal without creating a lot of danger. In the 24th minute a genius display by Harper led to the first Malaguista goal. Heel control to leave two rivals behind, followed by a great run, a pass to Pachecho and a shot at goal whilst unmarked with assistance from the Pizarra-born winger. Francisco’s team tried their luck with a couple of long shots and became more incisive in the closing stages of the first half. The best chance for the locals arrived in the 40th minute. A cross from José Corpas sent the ball grazing the right post of Munir’s goal. This was the last opportunity of the first half.
The second half kicked-off without any changes to either team. Munir deflected a promising shot from Aguza after three minutes. Muñiz’s men tried to increase their lead with constant moves upfront from Cifu, who was a dagger on the wing. Almería replicated but the Málaga keeper endured the attempts. In the 62nd minute Chemo entered for Arzura for the locals. Muñiz also made a change, taking off Blanco Leschuk and replacing him with Boulahroud three minutes later. The carrousel of substitutions continued. Narváez came on in place of Romera in 73’ and Hicham for Pacheco with just over 10 minutes remaining until the final whistle. The home side put on a teeth-clenching performance in their search for an equaliser, but Munir was very secure between the posts. The Almería coach used up all his changes, bringing on Caballero in place of Luis Rioja. Muñiz did the same, with this third substitution seeing Mula join play and Renato Santos step off in 89’. Munir again appeared in the closing stages with an impressive save, and Mula narrowly missed out on a second goal. At the final whistle, victory for the Malaguistas and another three away points.
