The team adds minutes against Winterthur in Coín

Málaga CF took part in a training match against the Swiss outfit at the José Burgos Quintana ground in Coín. A different team in each half featured in the session ahead of the first match of 2023 in front of the fans.

It was a change of scenery for Málaga CF this Wednesday, moving to Coín to take part in a training match against FC Winterthur from Switzerland at the Ciudad Deportiva José Burgos Quintana.

The preparatory match against the team from the Super League, the topflight of Swiss football, kicked off at 12:00 and the Malaguistas were wearing the pink away strip.

Pepe Mel’s starting-11 was made up of Yáñez in goal; Ramalho, Juande, Escassi, Javi Jiménez, Genaro, Chavarría, Febas, Jozabed, Febas and Rubén Castro.

The Malaguistas piled the pressure on from the start, recovering the ball upfront and showing great physicality on their return to work.

They dominated the first half, featuring a standout shot from Jozabed in 12’ that was deflected by the rival keeper, Pukaj; and the shot to the crossbar from Febas on the left in minute 37 in what was the clearest chance to open the scoring in this half. A great Rubén Yáñez save prevented Manzambi’s attempt in the most outstanding attacking action by FC Winterthur.

In the second half a new 11 featured Manolo Reina in goal; Winter signing Delmás on the right, sharing the back line with Esteban Burgos, Bustinza and Javi Jiménez; N’Diaye, Gallar, Luis Muñoz and Dani Lorenzo were in midfield and Fran Sol and Loren were upfront.

It was Loren who had the goal for Málaga CF in 54’, but his attempt from inside the area collided with the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, Delmás made a killer pass that Fran Sol didn’t manage to connect with. Manolo Reina made a good save from Francisco Rodríguez's shot before the only goal of the game, scored by the Swiss team, the work of Ballet from a Schättin assist (0-1, min79).

Ramón, suffering with a right adductor muscle injury confirmed after the relevant medical tests, carried out recovery training at La Rosaleda. Lumor remains absent for bureaucratic reasons.

An open training session is taking place tomorrow, Thursday 5th January at 10:30 at La Rosaleda Stadium. Access is via Tribuna doors 6 and 10 from 10:00.
