Málaga Club de Fútbol initiated a treatment this week to improve the pitch at La Rosaleda stadium. The works, which will continue until Saturday, will allow the turf to better withstand the weather conditions over summer.
The treatment began with a scarification process to allow oxygenation of the grass, followed by a puncture of the turf to aid soil decompaction. The pitch is being reseeded using an improved fescue grass, which will cope better with the demands of the climate over the summer period (both the high temperatures and increased humidity). Finally, a silica sand will be applied, mixed with soil-enhancing products.
The treatment underway on the Martiricos pitch will be completed on Saturday, and the turf will then require constant watering and rest.
