The MCF Academy’s 7-a-side teams won 15 titles of high national and international prestige in the 17/18 campaign. The most recent was over the weekend in Portugal.
“The Academy is at the level of the best in Spain”. Words from Isaac Jiménez, Blue and Whites’ Alevín A coach after being eliminated from LaLiga Promises following a close match against Real Madrid. Gordillo, how he is known in the world of grassroots football, does not lack reason. The five teams that make up the 7-a-side section in the youth ranks have won numerous tournaments, 15 of them at top national and international level. The last one was the Copa Guadiana, won by the 3ª Alevín at the weekend.
Amongst the wins, the two Andalusian Championships of Alevín A and Benjamín A stand out. Due to the competition format, they are the only two teams within the Academy that were able to participate, since it starts at Benjamín (the pre-Benjamín doesn’t have an Andalusian Club competition) and only the last year of each category can take part (the ‘B’ teams cannot participate). The two Malaguista squads defeated the rest of the Andalusian clubs in a ‘liguilla’ format in a round in which the team in first place takes part in the final. The Alevín A were proclaimed champions against Sevilla FC in Villanueva del Rosario and the Benjamín A defeated Córdoba CF in Calahonda.
As well as winning the double in the regional tournament, the Blue and Whites’ youth teams also won:
2ª Alevín (A): Torneo Benamejí, Torneo Promesas Andaluzas, Torneo Ciudad de Murcia, Gañafote Cup, Mijas Cup and San Vicente Cup.
3ª Alevín (B): Torneo Abades de Loja, Puertollano Cup, semi-finalist in the Mundialito, runner-up in Ciudad de Morón, semi-finalist in the Azpeitia Cup and Copa Guadiana (Portugal).
2ª Benjamín (A): Torneo Benamejí, Torneo Nerja, Torneo Abades de Loja, Torneo Fuengirola, Torneo Raul Baena de Torrox and San Vicente Cup.
3º Benjamín (B): Finalist in Torneo Cascais (Portugal), Torneo Avoi and Torneo Ciudad de Málaga.
3ª Prebenjamín: Semi-finalist in Mundialito, Torneo Emilio Jurado Tiro Pichón, Torneo Cuevas Cup and Torneo Ciudad de Málaga.
