Loren recently renewed with Málaga CF until the end of the 23/24 season. The young striker, who debuted with the first team at Las Gaunas, is one of the most powerful players within the youth ranks.
The son of Loren Zúñiga, former Malaguista player and scout, Lorenzo Zúñiga Owono (Fuerteventura, 2003) has grown from a personal and sporting aspect within the MCF Academy from Benjamín age up until now, as juvenil, and has recently turned 18.
A centre forward, his relationship with the goal is instinctive, which he’s more than proven in recent years in the youth ranks. Without going any further, this 20/21 season he debuted with the Juvenil ‘A’ team in División de Honor, scoring four goals (has accumulated 19 in total) in his first match under the orders of Nacho Pérez Santamaría. In addition, he played the first league match with Atlético Malagueño in the Third Division and has debuted with MCF in LaLiga SmartBank, playing the final minutes of #LogroñésMálaga which ended in victory for the Blue and Whites by 0-1 in La Rioja.
“Málaga flies the flag for the youth teams. We don’t put up walls, he’s another player to add to the group”, said Sergio Pellicer about Loren following his debut in Logroño. The striker also spoke to MCFTV about his past, present and future at the Entity: “This is my ninth season here. I’m very happy with my progression. I was born inFuerteventura, but I came to Málaga as a child and consider myself Malagueño. I’ve improved each year. There are players like Ramón, Ismael… who are very young and playing with the first team. I want to follow their example and keep working hard. I’m a striker, finisher, very versatile, with a good shot…My aim is to continue improving to grow as a footballer”.
Until 2024, Málaga CF has ensured the continuity of a hugely promising player with a natural gift that isn’t taught in football schools. You either have it or you don’t. He has it. He is the goal of the future. He is Loren Zúñiga.
