Last weekend the colour of the city of Córdoba, known for its charismatic Andalusian courtyards, was eclipsed by the brightness, happiness and colours of the 16 teams participating in the second phase of the Genuine championships. Our Fundación Málaga CF EDI enjoyed two unforgettable days during which the matches were the least important feature, as it wasn’t about the results, but about their happiness, and in that aspect, none of the participants has a rival.
The Malaguistas left La Rosaleda on Friday and headed to Córdoba where they stayed until Sunday. As usual with our magnificent team, their behaviour was exemplary, so much so they were named runners up in the Fair Play award tied with Las Palmas, and only behind Zaragoza. If our Genuine team excels in something it is being a true point of reference of values, friendship, overcoming adversity, strength, capability, respect and camaraderie; being a family and helping each other.
As if that were not enough, they won their three matches. On Saturday Málaga Genuine faced UD Levante EDI and UD Almería, winning by 3-1 and 2-1, respectively. On Sunday the last matches of this second phase of the competition took place, in which the Blue and Whites defeated CF Reus by 2-1.
A special mention must also be given to the players’ families and all Blue and White fans in general who travelled to the Estadio Nuevo Arcángel in Córdoba. They showed a praiseworthy attitude, supporting not just our team but all participants, being the most represented group in the tournament, with around 200 fans. Without doubt, one of the best fan bases of the competition.
The third phase will take place from 26th to 28th April at Los Ángeles de San Rafael (Segovia), with Club Atlético de Madrid as hosts.
