Teba will support the team in Cádiz

Continuing with its tradition, Málaga CF underscores its connection with the municipalities of the Costa del Sol. José Luis Puche provides us with a beautiful representation of the Castillo de la Estrella in Teba.

Málaga Club de Fútbol will visit Cádiz CF at the Nuevo Mirandilla on Saturday 12th October at 18:30. This exciting match, corresponding to Matchday 9 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION, will feature Teba in the design of the match poster and on the Blue and White captain’s armband.

Teba, nestled among mountains, is a corner where nature displays its tranquility and beauty. Its hills, Román and Gordo, stand firm, while the Guadalteba and Almargen rivers meander through green valleys, bringing life to their banks. The air is clean, and calm reigns in every corner, making this municipality, which belongs to the Guadalteba region, a perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings

The history of Teba is a fascinating tale that spans millennia. From the ancient hominids who left their mark in prehistoric times to the Cerro de los Castillejos, which safeguards the Iberian legacy of the famous Carnero. With the arrival of the Romans, the town became an important cultural and commercial centre. In 1330, the battle for the Castillo de la Estrella marked a decisive episode, where the Scottish nobleman Sir James Douglas met his tragic end.

The urban core of the municipality is a must-see, as its ensemble is a continuous sprinkle of palaces and noble houses that enhance its charm. Strolling through its streets reveals the Castillo de La Estrella, the parish church of Santa Cruz with its red marble columns, and the ancient convent of San Francisco. Although prehistoric findings, such as the Cueva de las Palomas evidence human presence, the archaeological remains are displayed in the Museum, offering a fascinating connection to the past.

In a landscape where nature is at its peak, Teba dazzles with its beauty. From the heights of its castle, the vast fields of grain merge with the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda, offering dreamlike views. The Venta River, carving its way through the spectacular Tajo del Molino, creates a gorge that captivates explorers. Further along, the Cueva River joins the Guadalteba reservoir, where the calm waters reflect the serenity of the surroundings.

The cuisine of Teba is a delight that highlights the freshness of its vegetables and the exquisite quality of its game meats. One of its most iconic dishes, Porra Tebeña, stands out for its original mix of ingredients, which includes fresh fish, making it prominent among the region's offerings. Additionally, Teba's pastries and bread are renowned for their exceptional quality, featuring a variety of sweets and breads that are a true pleasure for the palate.

Where simplicity becomes special, the town celebrates its traditions. The XXII Artisan Cheese Fair offers unique aromas and ancestral flavours, while the Scottish Days, known as Douglas' Days, revive distant legends. To the rhythm of Teba Rock 2024, music ignites the night, and the Romería de Teba brings the residents together in a journey filled with faith.

The poster for the upcoming match against Cádiz CF and the armband that our captain will wear feature the artistic seal of José Luis Puche, who has masterfully captured the essence and charm of the towns on the Costa del Sol. His work pays homage to the Castillo de la Estrella, an imposing fortress built by the Almohads in the 13th century. With an evocative style, the painter has depicted the architectural details of the castle, highlighting its sturdy walls and majestic tower that proudly rise above the landscape. The famous eight-pointed star, which adorns both the castle and the monument honouring Sir James Douglas, is integrated into the design in a dazzling way.
