Three points return to Rosaleda
The Malaguista temple has become practically impregnable for visiting rivals. Only Granada CF managed to win at the Blue and Whites’ stadium on matchday 16. Up until then, Muñiz’s men achieved a spectacular seven wins, and last Friday were again victorious at their fortress against a Cádiz in the middle of a winning run. As such, 24 points out of 27 have been won at La Rosaleda.
Top part of the standings
The Second Division is a very long, even category, in which the table changes match by match. Both Malaguista coach, Juan Ramón López Muñiz, and his players, insist that the most important thing at the moment is to take their position in the table ahead of the final month of competition. Counting Friday’s victory and the results from matchday 18, Málaga CF is in third place in the standings with 35 points, tied with Dépor (2nd).

Team captain Ricca scored again, he already netted a goal against Córdoba CF, to lead Málaga CF to victory against Cádiz CF. The Uruguayan-born winger is growing in attacking vocation, and it’s not unusual to see him in the attacking half seeking out goals from set pieces. That’s how, following a corner kick, he overcame the Yellows’ keeper. In the last match, the Blue and Whites claimed three points from Mallorca thanks to a player from the other side, Cifu.
The 12th derby
Málaga – Cádiz is one of the Andalusian derbies with fewer matches in the history books. The Blue and Whites have only faced the Yellows on 12 occasions, counting Friday’s game, 11 years after the last precedent (07/08 season, matchday 40).
