All square at La Rosaleda between Málaga CF and Levante UD (1-1)
Málaga CF drew with Levante UD at La Rosaleda on LALIGA HYPERMOTION matchday 26. Pablo Martínez (penalty) put the visitors ahead, while Pastor scored the equaliser for the Blue and Whites.
There was a good atmosphere on this slightly chilly Saturday afternoon. On the pitch, Pellicer made several changes to the defence compared to last week's match in Santander. Puga and Dani Sánchez replaced Gabilondo and Víctor on the wings, and Einar partnered with Pastor in place of the injured Nelson Monte.
Málaga's start was aggressive and deserved a goal. In the 3rd minute, Lobete had a chance with a shot that was narrowly deflected by Andrés Fernández, and Pastor, from the resulting corner, headed just wide of the crossbar. Manu Molina also came close in the 5th minute with a shot that grazed the post.
After the first quarter of an hour, an active Carlos Puga had a dangerous shot from the right wing in the 18th minute. Levante, retreating into their own half, did their best to contain Málaga's continuous attacks. However, they took advantage of their first real opportunity with a penalty converted by Pablo Martínez (0-1, 35').
The Blue and White response came quickly, with a shot from David Larrubia that hit the left post in the 38th minute. Before the 45-minute mark, Levante had another chance to score, but Puga made a crucial clearance with a last-ditch tackle inside the small box. At half-time, the score was 0-1.
In the second half, Kevin replaced Antoñito on the left wing of the attack. Levante, under Calero's plan, slowed the game down, preventing Málaga CF from creating any dangerous chances. In the 59th minute, Baturina replaced Dioni as the central forward. In the 62nd minute, Levante’s Morales launched a dangerous counterattack that narrowly missed converting into a goal.
As the match progressed, the team, driven by the support of the fans, kept pushing for the equaliser, and they deservedly got it. Álex Pastor scored a brilliant header that hit the woodwork before going into the net to level the score (1-1, 68'). Shortly after, Morales had a chance, but Herrero made a good save (70'), and Kevin had a shot that was stopped by Andrés Fernández (72').
In the 79th minute, reserve team players Izan Merino and Chupe replaced Manu Molina and Julen Lobete. Just before the 90-minute mark, Yanis came on for Larrubia to play the added minutes. During injury time, the referee showed a direct red card to Puga for a tough tackle on the skilful Carlos Álvarez.
The score remained unchanged, and the 1-1 draw earned Málaga Club de Fútbol their 32nd point of the season after 26 LALIGA HYPERMOTION games.
