Santa Cruz: “We should be pleased with our performance”
Happy with their performance on the pitch, but disappointed not to leave the Sánchez Pizjuán with three points, Roque Santa Cruz, Antunes and Sergio Sánchez appeared in the mixed zone after the game.
The scorer of Málaga’s second goal tonight states: “Everyone on the team is pleased with our performance, we played well. It’s a shame we couldn’t maintain our lead in the second half, but anything could have happened towards the end of the game.”
Following the third League match of the season, Santa Cruz adds: “We’ve got through a difficult start to the season, and I hope we can achieve our first three points after the League break and move up the table.”
Speaking about tonight’s result, Antunes says: “We played a good game against a good team. We’re performing well and I think we deserved more tonight. However coming home with a draw is favourable considering luck was on Sevilla’s side, not ours.”
From a critical point of view, the Portuguese-born winger adds: “We lacked consistency. We should have hung on to our lead to ensure a good result. We need to keep working hard and improve on that.”
Sergio Sánchez comments on tonight’s performance at the Sánchez Pizjuán: “We feel like we let two points slip through our fingers, in what was an exciting, vibrant and competitive match tonight. We were in the lead twice and conceded two goals too easily.”
The Mataró-born player, who has worn the Sevilla shirt in the past, adds: “It’s great to come back here, but sad that the fans, who used to really respect me as a Sevilla FC player back in the day, booed me tonight.”
