Fabrice: “The Club has confidence in the younger players, which is important”
The young Cameroon-born player, who wasn’t included in his national team’s final line-up this week, held a press conference this morning at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium after training.
Fabrice talks about the start of the season, taking part in the pre-season with the first team and being in the starting-11 in the first three League matches so far: “It really is a dream come true for me. I’m working as hard as I can each day so that when the coach believes I’m ready to play, then I’ll be prepared. He’s put a lot of faith in me, and I want to return the favour.”
Thanks to the confidence the coach has in him, Fabrice continues to improve every day: “When I play football I always have a lot of fun, and if I’m really enjoying myself on the pitch, it means things are going well for me. I’m taking everything one step at a time and making the most of every opportunity the coach gives me, so I can continue to learn and grow.”
Portillo’s contract renewal, and the inclusion of Sergi Darder and Fabrice in the line-up, shows a great confidence in the younger players from the Club’s lower ranks, which Fabrice sees as very positive: “It’s wonderful that the Club is focusing a lot on the players from Málaga CF’s younger categories. It’s so important for us that the coach selects us as part of the first team, to really help us to learn more and improve as players.”
