Rubén Castro, Málaga CF forward, appeared before the media on Thursday in the press room, during the week of preparations for the match against SD Huesca.

In regard to the milestone of having become the all-time top scorer in the Second Division, he commented: “I hoped to achieve the record sooner, I thought I would have scored more goals, but it has come at the moment the team needed it.” He added that his goals “are turning into points, we've had a very good two months and we hope we continue like this.”

He subsequently referred to the team’s good dynamics with four victories in the last five games and three on the bounce: “From the Racing game it seemed that everything was lost, but it wasn’t the case. Between us all we got down to work and turned it around. We have the attitude and pride to take this forward, and that’s what we’re doing.”

Málaga CF need to win this Monday to continue fighting to remain in the division and the atmosphere at La Rosaleda will be crucial. “We are already at the limit in all the games, if you lose you have a good chance of going down, but the team is doing well. The fans are helping us so much, the other day they travelled 2,000 kilometres to Lugo while it was raining. We really appreciate their support, which helps us to take that step forward and win games,” commented Rubén Castro.

The Malaguista number '24' continued: “I’m in my best moment since I arrived, there are games remaining to score goals and points. It's time to get out of this situation.”

Despite the fact there are five games left, the team is only thinking about the one against SD Huesca: “The important thing is to go match by match and focus on us. If we don't win, what the others do is of no use, we have to focus our energy on our game.”

Rubén Castro and Chavarría have scored three goals each in the last five league games. “With Pablo we understand each other better and better, he’s getting results to get points for the team,” he said.

Lastly, in relation to the final stretch of the season, the Blue and White striker said: “These five games are very important for me and for Málaga, and I hope to score as many goals as possible to help the team.”
