Recio: “We’re going to give this competition our all”
Málaga CF’s José Recio held a press conference at La Rosaleda this morning, before the team left for Cáceres.
Statements from Recio
“So now it’s the turn of the Copa del Rey; we’re in three competitions, and in two of which we’re at a very high level. We’re going to give this competition our all, as the coach has made some important rotations to the line-up for this match, and we need to perform as well as we can, to show him he can rely on us whenever he needs us. We’re focusing on playing excellent football and getting through the knock-out stage.”
“I don’t think the pitch is in a great condition, but we’ll try our best to play our style of football. If this isn’t possible, then we’ll change our game play, however our focus is coming home with a good result.”
“I made my debut in this competition and have very fond memories. I can’t wait to get out there and play, and give 100 per cent to this match.”
“It’s tough, as in matches like this we need to alter our mentality somewhat. We’re at such a high level both in the Champions League and the League, and the coach has warned us not to rest on our laurels at all. Although we’re up against a Second Division B team, on a bad pitch, we still need to perform our best football.”
“The bus journey is five hours, but we’ll be comfortable at least. We can then sleep on the way home after the match.”
“The coach will be talking to us about the team tomorrow, and we’ll watch a video of some of their best players to see their style of play and if they rely on set pieces.”
