Recio and Isco at prize ceremony for the 9th annual AFENES Olympics

Málaga Club de Fútbol players Recio and Isco attended the ninth annual AFENES Olympics prize-giving ceremony this morning. It’s an event that marks the finale of the season for the Association of Families of the Mentally Ill (AFENES).

As every year, the Málaga CF, through its Foundation, was present at the AFENES ceremony which pays tribute to the hundreds of people from various associations, health centres and welfare bodies throughout Málaga who have taken part in activities organised by AFENES.

With their presence, Recio and Isco follow in the footsteps of other players who have previously participated in the event; and it shows once again the Club’s support and collaboration for this association.

AFENES, founded in 1992, is a not-for-profit benefit organisation that has the aim of improving the quality of life for the mentally ill anf their families. Coinciding with the International Week of Mental Health, AFENES presented more than 200 trophies at the Ciudad Jardín Sports Centre.  There were many activites in the Olympics this year including ludo, beach volleyball, chess, basketball, table football, ping-pong, swimming and athletics, amongst others.

Also joing the Málaga players was the city’s Sports Councillor, Javier Imbroda; the AFENES president, Miguel Acosta; and the Association’s coordinators, David González and Curro de la Torre.
