The Malaguista coach held a press conference ahead of the LaLiga SmartBank matchday 23 fixture. “We’ve strengthened the team well, we’re moving forward and we’ll achieve the objective, without a doubt,” he affirmed.
Before the Malaguista team's visit to the Municipal de Ipurúa, the Madrid-born coach talked about the team's recent winter signings: “Manolo and his people have done a magnificent job as the players we wanted are the ones who are here. Initially, those three players are the ones who were in the first position,” he stated.
Pepe Mel affirmed that he’s “delighted” and values having “more power to act and more options. On the right wing we have a more attacking player, and on the two wings we have more depth and arrival to the area. They’ll help us a lot. Physically they’re fine and heading to Eibar with the option of being able to play,” he added.
The team is very clear about the short-term objective: “We have to set objectives and be aggressive in our bid to achieve them, we have no other choice. We do more things than the points we have reflects. This was the case with the last game, but it wasn’t to be. January’s going to be a tough month, but we have to focus on those nine points to get out of this situation,” the coach affirmed.
The standings say that on Sunday the team in first place will play the penultimate team, but in this division this difference may not be reflected on the pitch: “We all have options, just like Eibar. They’re not an easy rival, but neither are we. Winning is hard for us but beating Málaga isn't easy either. We want to win because nothing else will do,” concluded Pepe Mel.
