The former Málaga CF manager held a farewell press conference this afternoon at La Rosaleda. “I have the honour of having coached Málaga,” he said.
The Club ends its contractual relationship with the Madrid-born manager that began last September. The Entity thanks the coach for his professionalism and commitment.
Pepe Mel will not continue at the helm of Málaga CF's first team. The manager has been dismissed from his duties this morning and will not direct today's training session.
Mel took over La Rosaleda’s dugout last September, and since then has directed 18 LaLiga SmartBank matches. Despite a considerable improvement in the team's competitiveness, the results have not accompanied the coach who hasn’t managed to get them out of the relegation zone. These results force the Club to seek a substantial change in the dynamics, in order to leave the bottom of the table positions.
Málaga CF would like to thank Pepe Mel for all his hard work, undeniable professionalism and excellent predisposition. The Club wishes the coach the best of luck in his professional and personal future.
