The Malaguista manager, with a Blue and White past as a coach and player, returns to the Entity to take charge of the first team until 2024. The manager will head up his first training session this afternoon.
Sergio Pellicer García (09/09/1973, Nules – Castellón) is a coach who trained, amongst other clubs, in the MCF Academy. His time within the youth ranks was stellar, winning the second Spanish Copa de Campeones in the Club’s history with the Juvenil DH. This achievement allowed the homegrown team to play in the UEFA Youth League for the first time.
Following a spell as assistant coach and, later, as head coach of Atlético Malagueño (reserve team), Pellicer took charge of the Blue and White first team on 12/01/20 on an interim basis, approximately three years ago. During the season and a half at the helm of MCF, he kept the team in LaLiga SmartBank on two complex occasions.
A specialist in difficulties, he had to manage the halt in activity due to COVID-19 and, in 20/21, a sporting ERE (collective dismissal) and a suffocating penalty of 18 professional players as a limit. Despite this historically complicated context, he achieved his objectives with some ease.
Pellicer once again assumes the role with the firm objective of getting the team out of the relegation zone.
The Málaga CF manager was officially presented this afternoon at La Rosaleda. “We have to go out there together. We have 18 matches remaining and we’re at -4. The strength of La Rosaleda has to be visible,” said Sergio Pellicer.
The Blue and Whites were in training this Thursday morning between the Annexe and La Rosaleda’s main pitch for the second time with Sergio Pellicer at the helm.
Sergio Pellicer headed up his first training session as Málaga CF manager this Wednesday evening. Reserve team defenders Bilal and Murillo were new to the session.
