Pellicer: “It’s a great shame, but we have the energy to recharge”

The Malaguista coach appeared in the 'Juan Cortés' press room at La Rosaleda following the match against Real Racing Club. “It’s getting more and more difficult for us, but the impossible doesn’t exist,” he stressed.

The Blue and white coach stated that “with 11 against 11 in the first half we saw everything. With the aggressiveness of the pressure, playing in the rival half, showing soul... although, yes we lacked the finish, which makes things more complicated. This is a very hard day, with 26,000 fans in the stands. We kept trying with 10 men, and continued to stand up to the rival,” he expressed.

Regarding the team’s situation after the defeat and the overall feeling of the group, Pellicer stated that “the dressing room right now is very disappointed, this was a very important day. Today is a day to reflect, it’s tough for everyone, but this continues. We need to keep our heads up and work hard. Today we can't be blamed for anything. We showed soul. This team isn’t dead. There is no other way now: resistance and survival,” he added.

Despite everything, Pellicer isn’t giving up. “The points are there. It’s getting more and more difficult for us, but the impossible doesn’t exist. I will seek commitment, hunger and keep insisting. We have two options: surrender or fight. And we have to fight until the last minute,” explained the coach.

Lastly, the Malaguista coach wanted to thank the presence of the 26,000 fans in La Rosaleda’s stands. “You have to thank the fans, all 26,000 of them. They gave us wings to continue, with more heart than head when we were a man down. We’re going to continue fighting to the limit and give our all. We have to find solutions to keep fighting. It’s a great shame, but we have the energy to recharge. It’s a very hard day,” he concluded.
