Málaga’s Chilean-born coach, Manuel Pellegrini, spoke to the press at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.
Pellegrini Statements
"The teams need a lot of work. Sevilla arrived better prepared with two games already played. They got a goal early on, in an otherwise equal match. And after that we went from a possible 1-1 to 2-1. In the second half we tried to put the squeeze on them, but they defended very well. Sevilla is a difficult side. It was a great game for Sevilla and for Alvaro Negredo".
"Sevilla was a justified winner. But that didn't help us generate opportunities. Victory went to the better team".
"We need a lot more work. But that stoppage didn't help us out at all. 11 players have gone, and therefore it's difficult to prepare for matches".
"Clearly losing is not a step in the right direction, but neither is this defeat the end. We must continue working like we were and as if we had won today."
