Pellegrini: “Our obligation is to get the three points”
Málaga Club de Fútbol’s first team manager, Manuel Pellegrini, spoke to the media today in La Rosaleda’s press room ahead of the match tomorrow ahead of Racing Club de Santander – Monday 9th April, 9.30 p.m.
(Racing match). “All matches are dangerous. We see every week that some results are unexpected, even though in football nothing’s ever unexpected. But regardless of the rival the important thing is our performance, because they’re all difficult rivals.”
(Opponents in defence). “It’s something all teams did before Betis, not just them. The difference is that Betis were lucky on set pieces and managed to score, in addition we weren’t too sure of ourselves around the goal. Almost all teams have come to La Rosaleda to do the same thing and we’ve managed to overcome them – what happened with Betis was a setback, these things happen, and now our obligation as a team is to get the three points whether Racing are coming to attack or defend.”
(Fans). “La Rosaleda is always full. It was last year and it is this year too as we’ve almost permanently been in European positions. As we near the end, expectations are growing even more and we hope that the team continues to respond and that everyone, fans, the team, players and coaches can pull together to get the three points.”
(A long week and three matches in six days). “The team’s on form and hoping to get the three points once again as the home side, we know that each and every one of the matches that remain will be with teams who’re trying to fulfil their own objectives and with this anyone of them can score. It’s positive because we’ve been able to prepare for the three matches. We’ll be heading to Villareal with less rest than them and likewise for the one against Real Sociedad, but for this we’ve been adjusting the team so the squad is on form and we can choose the best squads for the job. Once we’ve got over the Racing match, we’ll see how the players recover but it’s probable that with three matches there will be some changes.”
