No points for MCFF in Valencia (1-0)

Victory for Levante UD ‘B’ yesterday against Málaga Femenino on matchday 4 of Group Sur D in the fight to remain in Reto Iberdrola. “The girls gave everything”, said Nati.

Blue and White coach Nati Gutiérrez selected the following starting-11 for the match at the Polideportivo Municipal de Nazaret: Lucía; Encarni, María Flores, María Cortés, Ale (above image); Buceta, Andrea Ríos, Lorena, Clo; María Ruiz and Claudia. The following also played in the second half: Futu, Farfán, Estefa, Edna and Arantxa, the latter back from long-term injury.

The goal from local striker, Andrea Okene, from the penalty spot (1-0, 46’), sealed the win for the group leaders.

MCFF, after four out of 10 games in the second phase of the season, are in sixth place in the table with 17 points, one away from the safe zone marked by La Solana with 18. A crucial match is coming up next weekend in Cártama against the team at the bottom of the group, Femarguín (10th, 15 points).

Statements - Nati Gutiérrez

“The result was close. They got a penalty because of our unforced error, the consequence of a poor decision. At the start the team was dominating play, yet in the second half, in the attempt to go level, the girls came apart a little in defence and midfield”.

“It’s a shame, we didn’t want to lose this match. The girls gave everything and tried their best to claim a point, as adding points was essential, like it is in all games. Every match is a final. We’re now focused on Femarguín and will continue to believe in ourselves, as we need to keep working hard and strengthen what we’re doing well”.
