No points and a crazy second half in Tenerife (2-1)
Defeat for Málaga CF Femenino against Fundación Canaria CD Tenerife at the Ciudad Deportiva ‘Javier Pérez’. Marilén scored the Malaguista goal, whilst Mara and Ari Quintana scored for Tenerife.
Málaga CF Femenino played Fundación Canaria CD Tenerife on Saturday at the Ciudad Deportiva ‘Javier Pérez’, on matchday 23 of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur.
Blue and White coach Juanma’s starting-11 comprised of Andrea in goal; Olmedo, Ruth, Mérida and Yoli Peche in defence; María Cortés, Tati and Bertuchi in midfield; and Marilén, Futu and Carmen Gómez on the attack.
The pace of play was slow at the start due to the high temperatures, with both teams trying to gain control of possession.
The first attacking options fell to the Malaguista side, with an attempt from Futu in 17' and a long shot from Carmen Gómez five minutes later.
When the Costa del Sol team was beginning to establish itself, Silvia Mérida sustained injury and had to leave the pitch, replaced by Marta in 41'.
In this section of the game up until half-time, Juanma's team was more uncomfortable and Andrea had to deflect a free kick from the front by Aida.
In the second half, the locals took the lead on the scoreboard, with a goal from Malagueña, Mara Jiménez, who made the most of Andrea's rebound following Lidia Ribeiro's shot (1-0, min56).
Monterroso entered minutes later, replacing Carmen Gómez, whilst María Farfán, Teté and Sofía came on for Yoli Peche, Tati and Bertuchi in 69'.
Sofia came close to going level, yet her shot from the right went into the side of the net.
These were Málaga's best attacking minutes, which resulted in the equaliser just after the hydration break. Monterroso launched a long cross for Marilén, and the Tenerife-born player sent the ball to the bottom of the local goal, after hitting the post (1-1, min 77).
MCFF advanced lines going for the second goal and María Cortés tried her luck from distance with a shot that missed the target by just a few centimetres.
With a goal apiece, the score subsequently tipped in the rival’s favour. Ari Quintana, after a long move by Poletto, crossed the ball with her left foot to surpass Andrea (2-1, min86).
Following this hard-fought defeat, Málaga CF Femenino are in 7th place with 38 points. Next week, the matchday 24 fixture is against Real Unión de Tenerife Santa Cruz, at the Francisco Romero ground in Rincón de la Victoria.
