Nelson Monte boosts the Blue and White defence

The Portuguese central defender arrives in Málaga on a free transfer and signs a contract for the next three seasons, until 25/26.

Nelson Macedo Monte (07/20/1995 - Vila do Conde, Portugal) is a central defender who can also play as a reliable right-back. Forceful in defence, agile and with good positioning, he is a strong defensive resource.

The player trained in the lower categories of Río Ave and, after a stint within the Benfica youth ranks, he finally made his debut with his hometown club in Portugal’s Primeira Liga on 12/4/2014 (Río Ave 1-2 Olhanense). Since then, the defender formed part of the defensive axis of the Portuguese team for the following eight seasons. His great level sparked the interest of Ukrainian outfit SK Dnipro-1, from where he ended up leaving in the middle of the war to join the ranks of UD Almería in the final stretch of the 21/22 season. The season in which the Andalusian squad enjoyed promotion to LaLiga EA Sports. Nelson returned to Portugal in the 22/23 campaign to wear the Chaves jersey, where he has played 31 matches in the neighbouring country's gold category.

Nelson, who has already passed the relevant medical examination at Hospital Vithas Málaga, arrives at Málaga CF in full sporting maturity after ending his relationship with his previous club and signing a three-season contract.

Bem-vindo, Nelson!
