Nelson Monte: “I’m thrilled with my first goal”

The Málaga defender spoke to the media in the mixed zone at Nuevo Los Cármenes after the draw. “We trust in our work and continue to strive for more,” he stated.

First goal feelings

“It's my first goal of my career. I’ve always seen myself more as a finisher than a goal scorer, but this goal was important and helped us secure a point. I'm thrilled, both for my first goal and for helping Málaga.”

Review of the draw

“The feeling from the penalty at the end makes you think that the draw is fair, but I believe we played well. Málaga had a very good first half, showing a lot of character. Granada took advantage of our worst moment to score, but this team has spirit and doesn’t give up. In the end, I think the point is deserved based on our performance.”

Talented homegrown players

“The young players have a lot of quality. Last year, I was surprised by the talent in Málaga's youth ranks. The coach has a lot of trust in them, and in fact, everyone has already had minutes on the pitch. They’re making the most of their opportunities, always giving their best. The veterans are here to help them, and they feel that support. They’re very comfortable with us, and we are part of this Málaga project, here to support them.”

Teamwork

“We have to keep working. This team puts in a lot of effort, both in matches and during the week. It has great spirit and never gives a match up for lost. We leave with the feeling that we can beat any opponent because we trust in our daily work and continue to strive for more.”
