Nati Gutiérrez: “We want to be a recognised and competitive team”

The Málaga Femenino coach positively reviews the first win of the season against Juan Grande. “The team did pretty well, united in hard work”, she said.

Analysis of the 4-1

“I saw the team before and after the tie. It was a question of gaining confidence and making the most of the opportunities. We have to reinforce everything we know how to do well, improve and refine our gameplay model. It’s important to have clear ideas and know the roles of the players”.

María Ruiz scored a brace

“María is a highly important player with a great deal of experience and was one of the team’s top scorers three or four years ago. She understands the values of the house and the work the team needs to do. We’ll see if she’ll play as a winger, forward, attacking midfielder…She understands the game very well and will bring a lot to the team”.

Farfán, very reliable

“With Farfán we sought out her attack, she’s a player with sacrifice and generosity in attack-defence transitions, the first and second goal came from that right wing. We were looking for presence in the area with her, and she’s always very generous in defence. She belongs to the house and understands the meaning of hard work”.

Satisfied with the performance

“In general, the team did pretty well, united in hard work. In defence, the girls were orderly, with a great deal of sacrifice and hunger on the attack. We can’t single out any one of them, it’s a team effort in all phases of play. Now we need to push harder. Nothing will change against Granada, the team’s work and perseverance will continue to the max. Every match is a final. Against Granada you have a plus as you’re playing against the top team, but we need to compete and give our all on the field of play”.

Feelings and objectives

“It was strange, but the feelings are good as you see things more clearly when you win. I remain with everything we saw on the pitch. We need to continue working hard as matchday 3 is taking place next weekend. It’s about staying focused and enjoying the good feelings, but pushing harder with perseverance, humility and hard work. Aspirations? We want to be a recognised and competitive team, take each match at a time and go for the three points from every game. We are Málaga, we need to look as high up as possible, but our aspiration is to win Sunday’s game”.
