Málaga CF lost away to CD Leganés on LaLiga SmartBank matchday 10. Arnaiz, in 65’, scored for the locals.
Málaga CF played CD Leganés on matchday 10 of LaLiga SmartBank this Wednesday 12th October. The Municipal de Butarque ground, with over 400 Malaguistas in the stands, hosted this match on this warm afternoon in the Spanish capital.
The opening stages of play were pretty even. Juanfran, from a corner, generated the first chance for the Blue and Whites – wearing black today – but his shot sailed over Riesgo’s crossbar.
In minute 17, Málaga approached the rival goal as Fran Sol launched a powerful low cross that Aleix Febas missed. Despite not having any clear shots at goal, Pepe Mel’s team dominated the locals, and thanks to the movements between the lines of the number '10' and Villalba, they enjoyed several opportunities before half-time. Nevertheless, after 45 minutes the scoreboard remained at 0-0.
The home side stepped up the attack in the second half. As time went on, the Pepinero outfit increased their approaches to the Malaguista area. The Blue and White defence tried to repel Leganés' attempts, however José Arnaiz put his side 1-0 up in the 65th minute. The attacker broke away behind the defence and defined in front of the Málaga goalkeeper.
Malaguista coach, Pepe Mel introduced several changes, bringing on Genaro, Hervías, Loren, Rubén Castro and Cristian, but the equaliser never arrived. Following seven minutes of stoppage time, the match ended in 1-0.
Málaga CF will be in action again in LaLiga SmartBank on Sunday – 16th October – against CD Lugo, at La Rosaleda at 18:30.
