Muñiz: “In the final minutes we lacked a sense of calm”

The Málaga CF coach pointed out that in order to reach the objective “we have to know how to deal with defeat and difficulties”.

“The match was very even, we had opportunities to take a 2-0 lead. In the final minutes we lacked a sense of calm, we got a little nervous and feared the rival going level. Seleznov, Keidi and Renato had chances to increase our lead, yet when you don’t score the game becomes complicated. We had a lot of yellow cards happening in midfield and we knew that they were passing very well. That’s why we made the change and why we thought we could kill the game from a counter attack”.

Erik Morán

“He’s going to bring many things to the team, calm, exit with the ball and experience, I think his debut was positive for the team and for him”.

Changes

“If you make substitutions and increase the result, you say the changes were good. If the rival scores an equaliser, it’s the opposite. You have to be patient, be aware of any situation that can arise in a match and know how to overcome them, regardless of who’s on the pitch. The players who went on in the final minutes needed to do as much as possible to help the team and make the most of their teammates’ work. This is football and you have to live with the mistakes. When things don’t go well you have to stand up to the rival, stay calm during play and do your bit to improve things”.

Starting-11

“The line you have to follow in matches is to select the team that can defeat the rival. When there’s so much happening in midfield, logically the gameplay will opt for that form, possession. We must face different situations that will arise during matches”.

Tranquility

“We play with the necessary calm to do things the way we think we have to do them. Above all, we do as the points and the standings identify us. The team is in a good place in the table, has a good number of points, is in the fight for the set objectives and has remained in a good position for 24 matches. I don’t think we’re aware of the difficulty or we’re not valuing the rivals. To reach our objective we have to know how to deal with defeat and difficulties. The team knows it’s a question of consistency. We need to keep adding and improving, as we demand the most from our work”.
