More attacking power with Mamadou Koné

The striker comes from CD Leganés and will play on loan with Málaga CF during the 2018/19 season. He passed the medical yesterday and trained alone at La Rosaleda.

From the Ivory Coast, Mamadou Koné (25/12/1991) is an agile, quick and ambidextrous striker, 1’76 metres in height, who can play as a second forward accompanying a number ‘9’ or on the wing.

Career

Koné made his professional debut with Racing de Santander. At 19 years of age he played his first LaLiga match, at Camp Nou against FC Barcelona. That season (2011/12) he played 398 minutes with Santander’s first team. A year later, following Racing’s relegation, Koné, still registered with the reserve team, played 36 games in the Second Division and scored 5 goals.

In 2013/14 he showed the best version of himself as a player. In 30 matches he scored 18 goals and was one of the great architects of Real Racing Club’s return to the silver division. In the 2014/15 campaign, despite sustaining serious injury, the African player scored 7 goals in 15 Second Division clashes.

After leaving Santander, Koné headed to Oviedo and played 34 matches (5 goals) in Liga 1|2|3 in the 2015/16 season. Despite being signed to Leganés, recently promoted to the First Division, he didn’t have continuity in the elite. Last season he moved to Belgian side KAS Eupen during the winter transfer window, with whom he played 1,270 minutes and scored 5 goals.

International

His good performance during the 2011/12 season with Racing de Santander led Koné to play with the Ivory Coast U-20s. He played three matches wearing his national team’s jersey and scored 1 goal.
