Miranda de Ebro, kilometre 5

The Blue and Whites claimed their fifth point out of five league games against newly promoted LaLiga Smartbank side, CD Mirandés.

Here are some of the highlights of #MirandésMálaga which ended in a 1-1 draw at Anduva:

Sadiku scored a goal

The Albanian striker only needed two matches to open his scoring account. After revealing numerous interesting details last weekend in his debut against Almería, this week he didn’t pass up on the opportunity to score his first goal for Málaga CF. He also came close to another goal that would have put the visitors 0-2 in front. Hopefully it will be the first of many.

100 times Juanpi

The Venezuelan played his 100th official match wearing the Blue and White jersey. At 25 years of age, he has accumulated 72 matches in the First Division with MCF, 18 in the silver division and 10 in the Copa del Rey. He joined the game in the second half and narrowly missed out on a superb goal from a long shot that grazed the crossbar.

Debut of Benkhemassa

The Algerian midfielder, one of the three summer signings, made his official debut as a Blue and White player. Part of the starting-11, he formed a ‘trivote’ with Keidi and Boulahroud and played the entire 90 minutes. He’s now the 355th player in Málaga CF’s history, since 1994, to wear the Malaguista jersey.

4 out of 5 points away from home

Although the season has only just begun, and three out of the five matches so far have been away from La Rosaleda, the stats show a good performance in away games. At home, the lads claimed a point against UD Las Palmas, whilst the remaining points, totalling 80 per cent, were obtained with the win in Santander and the draw at Anduva.

Flexibility and changes

It’s usual in the initial matches to see a variety of systems and multiple changes, both in the starting-11 and during games, or after half-time, carried out by Víctor Sánchez del Amo. Against Mirandés, as well as three centre backs and two wing backs, the coach also opted for a midfield with three elements escorting Adrián and Sadiku upfront. The versatility of various players is key for the tactical changes.
