Mikel Villanueva played a starring role on Thursday night with his national team. The Málaga CF defender was in Venezuela’s starting line-up in the qualifier for the 2018 Russia World Cup, which saw the ‘vinotinto’ side face Peru.
The Blue and Whites’ player was in action for 90 minutes, and scored Venezuela’s first goal after heading a dead ball inside the rival area. Even though the ‘vinotinto’ were 2-0 up at half time, Peru managed to go level in the second half (2-2). Malaguista striker, Adalberto Peñaranda didn’t take part in the match.
