Míchel: “We have to work, there are 15 days left”

The Blue and Whites’ coach analyses the match against SS Lazio in the XXXIII edition of the Trofeo Costa del Sol: “In every match we’ve played, we’ve had good, and not so good situations”.

Fifteen days until LaLiga

“We have to work, there are 15 days left. That’s a lot of days, but we need some signals.  In every match we’ve played, we’ve had good, and not so good situations. In the pre-season it’s about accumulating minutes, there are pre-conceived changes. Juanpi has just returned after a long injury, as has Kuzma. We have to take our time with these players and give them some breathing space, we can’t force them so much”.

Calm

“We had three or four goal chances. However, I’m not worried about that, I’m concerned about more of an overall issue, that the players are feeling insecure. So far, we’ve made sure the guys have stayed calm. Many things can happen over 17 days. The lack of goals changes a great deal. We want to win. There have been games during the pre-season that we could have won. Perhaps today the match wasn’t there to lose. We need to adjust everything a lot”.

Competition

“In our team, if the line-ups are analysed, they’re in, they’re out, they’re in, they’re out. Perhaps in the match against Granada it’ll be different again. I want a level of competition within my team, so we’re not thinking if Mula plays, if Keko plays, if Chory plays…”

Luis Muñoz

“Luis Muñoz has to play, and it wouldn’t be good for him to compete in the Third Division. Between the Third and First Divisions there are categories where he could play. Not playing for a season, or playing very few minutes, would be very detrimental to him”.

Cifu

“When he came he was one of the players who thought he was going to leave, but given the pre-season, and that Ricca and Miguel Torres won’t be in action until the end of October…We can’t risk that, Cifu is our player. He’s been pretty good in the pre-season, he’s a quality player and you can always count on him”.

Ruled-out players

“The ruled-out players are the ones spoken about at the beginning of the season. There have been players who have been leaving, including those being left out of the line-ups, as we’ve seen today. It’s nothing new”.
