Mel: “We’re going to give our all”

The Málaga CF coach talked about the team’s current situation in the run-up to tomorrow’s clash with Granada CF: “We’re on the right track, the team doesn't see itself being outclassed by any rival.”

Pepe Mel, Málaga CF coach, held a press conference in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room in the lead-up to the match against Granada CF tomorrow, Thursday at 21:00 at La Rosaleda.

Firstly, he talked about the rival who he said is one of the “favourites of the division, due to their economic power, which brings that certainty of being able to compete with more resources.” A Granada player who Mel knows perfectly well is Jorge Molina, with whom he was with for six years. He said the veteran striker “despite his age, maintains the virtues of being an important player.”

Following the introduction about Granada CF, he commented that “we're playing here, we're going to go all out from the start and make it very tough for them.”

“We competed very well in Valencia, we deserved more, but we must move forward,” he said about the last match. Mel recognised that “the team is not overwhelmed by any rival, we’re within a narrow margin of one goal. We need to win, and tomorrow's match could be a good one.”

The Malaguista manager is aware of the “lack of accuracy in the rival area because we managed to stop the bleeding, we didn't concede goals. We have to be more forceful in the rival area and we’ll be stronger”.

Lastly, he referred to homegrown winger Juanmita, who will be in the #MálagaGranada squad list: “He has what we need: one-on-one, speed, arrival from the outside and he makes the player who scores better. We have to think about whether he’ll be in the starting-11 or wait for another time, but he’s ready to debut.”
