Málaga CF is up against UD Las Palmas on Saturday at the Gran Canaria stadium, in the 4th LaLiga Santander match of 2016/17. Murcia-born Sánchez Martínez will officiate the game, kicking off at 20:45.
In the First Division, Málaga Club de Fútbol has visited Las Palmas on three occasions. The first time, the 5th match of 2000/01, MCF lost (2-1), with local goals from Oulare and Orlando, and the Malaguista goal by Valcarce; the second, the 4th match of 2001/02, ended in a (0-0) draw. Last season, 2015/16, the 19th LaLiga match ended in another draw between these teams (1-1), with a local goal from Tana, and another from Santa Cruz for the Blue and Whites.

CD Málaga’s first relegation to the Second Division, and at the same time, UD Las Palmas’ first promotion to the First Division, was in a Las Palmas-Málaga promotion match (4-1), held on 08/07/1951.
The story of Agustín Perdomo. The player from the Canary Islands who underwent military service in Ceuta, played for Imperio de Ceuta and signed to Atlético de Marbella. In Marbella, CD Málaga showed interest in him in the 1965/66 season. Perdomo later became the only player in CD Málaga’s history to sign to the Club and not even train one day. He never played for UD Las Palmas, even though he was born in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
UD Las Palmas was the rival who CD Málaga competed against the most in the Copa del Rey, namely five qualifiers, as well as a short period of time between the 1969/70 and 1977/78 seasons. CD Málaga won two of these play-offs.
