Historical curiosities
- At the end of the 20s and beginning of the 30s, the transfer of players started between Club Atlético de Madrid and Málaga’s representative teams, as was the case with Sevilla-born goalkeeper, Hucha (Real Málaga), and Canaries-born defender, Corral (CD Malacitano). Also during this time, Walter Harris (Mister Harris) coached Real Málaga and Atlético de Madrid.
- In the 1952/53 season, CD Málaga, coached by Chales, defeated Atlético de Madrid by 1-3 at the Metropolitano stadium. This victory, CD Málaga’s only away win against the ‘Colchoneros’, marked the end of the magician, Helenio Herrera, who weeks later went on to coach CD Málaga.

Joaquín Peiró’s line-up was made up of: Contreras; Rojas (Musampa 83’), Larrainzar, Roteta, Valcarce; Ruano, De los Santos, Movilla, Rufete; Darío Silva (A. Luque 77’) and Catanha.
