Match number 11 for Spain at La Rosaleda

Spain’s national team will play for the 11th time in its history at La Rosaleda Stadium on Saturday. The match is against Norway, kicking off at 20:45.

The national team, in what will be the debut of new coach Luis de la Fuente, faces its first official qualifying match for Euro 2024 in Málaga. Spain's rivals in Group A, in addition to the Norwegian team, are Cyprus, Georgia and Scotland.

Spain’s last precedent at La Rosaleda resulted in a 2-0 victory (goals by Carlos Soler and Sarabia) against the Czech Republic in the UEFA Nations League, in June 2022, with more than 30,000 fans in the stands.

In its more than eight decades of history, the Blue and White stadium has hosted a total of 10 commitments for the Spanish team. Spain's first visit to the Costa del Sol, a little over 50 years ago, was in February 1973. In a qualifying game for the '74 World Cup in Germany, the Spanish team defeated Greece by 3-1.

In the last four friendly matches in Málaga, Spain imposed its law by winning all four in Martiricos. Against Costa Rica and Venezuela by 5-0, in 2017 and 2012, respectively, against France by 1-0 in 2008 and against Finland by 2-0 in 1994. The only historical precedent in a European qualifying match dates back to 1982 with a victory (1-0) against Iceland.

Malaguista fans, who will once again fill La Rosaleda Stadium’s stands to see an official Spain match, will have the opportunity to enjoy this new national team featuring the following squad:

  • Goalkeepers: Kepa, David Raya and Robert Sánchez
  • Defenders: Gayà, Carvajal, Laporte, Nacho, Iñigo Martínez, Balde, Pedro Porro and David García
