María Martí undergoes pioneering therapy in Spain to treat her bone oedema
Málaga CF’s medical services applied an innovative technique, pioneering in Spain, to treat the player’s bone oedema suffered in her right knee.
Málaga CF Femenino player, María Martí had surgery yesterday, a pioneering therapy in Spain. The aim is to treat the bone oedema in her right leg as a result of an injury sustained last season, which impeded the player from beginning regular training.
Doctors Vicente de la Varga and Juan Carlos Pérez Frías applied this innovative regenerative cell therapy treatment, consisting of injecting into the femur bone a combination of platelet growth factors to stimulate the regeneration of cells damaged by the oedema.
As doctors explained, up to now, there has been no effective treatment for this type of injury. Thanks to this therapy, the player will be able to return to training in several weeks.
