Farfán: “We have to continue working and training like this to achieve our goal”

Malaguista central defender, Ruth Acedo also analyses the run-up to the second match of the season: “Winning the previous game does not mean anything. There’s a long way to go yet, particularly taking into account Santa Teresa are coming here”.

Málaga CF Femenino secured a massive 0-8 victory on matchday 1 against Atlético Polillas de Ceuta, to claim the top spot in the rankings. Antonio Contreras’ girls have since put that match behind them, and are focused on the upcoming second Group IV Segunda División Nacional clash. The match against CD Santa Teresa B will see the debut of the Ciudad Deportiva de Cártama, the local ground this season for Málaga Femenino. Blue and Whites’ winger, María Farfán and central, Ruth Acedo analyse the rival in the preview to the second match of the season.

Farfán:

CD Santa Teresa

“Santa Teresa are a strong rival, who know very well what they have to do. They come from a draw against a great Granada, and now face Málaga, so they’ll be raring to go. As such, we have to be at our best from the outset and give our all. Last season it was a struggle. We started off losing and had to overturn the result. All the Extremadura teams are strong and difficult to overcome”.

Hard work and intensity

“The sensations were very good on the pitch during the first game. We’re connecting very well with our new teammates. We have to continue working and training like this to achieve our goal. Training sessions are very intense, we must carry on as we are, there’s a long road ahead”.

Ruth:

Fellowship

“The team looks great, we’re training very well. Winning the previous game does not mean anything. There’s a long way to go yet, particularly taking into account Santa Teresa are coming here following a draw with Granada. We’re getting better all the time, we’re a close-knit group and are all moving in the same direction. Despite not playing during the pre-season, everything is going well, we all understand each other”.
