Manolo Sánchez: This point must be valued positively

Málaga CF’s assistant coach appeared in the Nuevo Colombino press room after the draw with Recreativo de Huelva. “We must highlight how the team has turned the situation around at a very difficult ground,” he explained.

Match analysis

“There were two very different halves, in the first we had a lot of control. The danger came from Caye Quintana and Luis Alcalde. We lacked a little finishing in the final third in the first half, we arrived very easily on the left wing. In the second half, it was an exchange of blows, and they went ahead. We must highlight how the team has turned the situation around at a very difficult ground for all teams in the category, in front of 14,000 people, and we achieved a point. We were playing against a historic club, which is doing things well and we are going to strengthen what we’re doing. You have to know how to focus on the positives at this moment.”

Importance of the entire team

“We want everyone to feel involved, this is a very long season. There are no starters or substitutes, it’s about everyone joining in, so they have to be prepared. There are 38 matches, this is a squad and everyone has to feel important. You can see those on the bench that compete and say 'here I am' for the next game. It’s a very large squad and we’re going to try to utilise everyone. Today two new teammates played, on Thursday there will also be changes. It’s a large squad, everyone is going to want to participate and they are going to have their moment.”

Draw

“The point allows us to continue adding points in six of our seven games, which allows us to be at the top of the standings. We are earning points at very difficult grounds. In a first division environment we have measured up. It’s a positive point as it allows us to maintain our unbeaten streak and I am sure that we will do well in the future. We must highlight the positive aspects of the point, it will be good and we must value it. We are growing and are going to try to do well at home.”

Pellicer

“The coach couldn't be at home, although today he was more limited. It’s the best help that he’s here. We live it with great intensity, we are very passionate and visceral in a club in which we will be eternally grateful to continue growing.”

Recreativo de Huelva

“They were a very competitive and hard-working team, from having good order they generate a great deal. The transitions created problems for us, we have submitted with the ball in the rival half. We must improve and reinforce what we are doing well. Recre will do well, they have lost only one game out of seven and what they are doing has a lot of merit.”
