Manolo and Julio, a Malagueño accent alongside Pellicer

The first team staff includes Manolo Sánchez as assistant coach and Julio Rodríguez as physical trainer, accompanying Sergio Pellicer at the helm of the coaching team.

Coming from the reserve team, like Pellicer, are Marbella-born Manuel Sánchez Cámara and Julio Alberto Rodríguez Pérez from Torremolinos, two classics from football training within The MCF Academy in recent years.

The new assistant coach was already part of Pellicer’s coaching team in the historic Juvenil ‘A’ team, achieving regional and national success in 2015 and 2016. This 19/20 season, in Atlético Malagueño, Manolo has been Pellicer’s right-hand man and yesterday made a winning debut as interim coach of the reserve team against Alhaurín de la Torre.

Furthermore, Julio is another man of the house, with extensive links in grassroots football and also with Atlético Malagueño, standing out two seasons ago heading up the physical training within Dely Valdés’ team that moved up to Second B in the 17/18 campaign. Following a brief experience along with the Panamanian coach in the central American country, he returned this season to the reserve team to carry out the physical training along with José Antonio Lizana.

This Monday morning, at La Rosaleda Stadium, Manolo debuted as Pellicer’s assistant coach and Julio completed his second training session with the first team, leading the physical training with Enrique Ruiz. ‘Koke’ Contreras worked with the goalkeepers and Capa recorded and analysed Málaga CF’s first session of the week.
