As the match progressed, the Blue and Whites created numerous goal opportunities, and began to question the tactical superiority of Cluj.  Malagueño got their first goal with a powerful shot from Sergi outside the penalty area, however the Romanian champions soon equalised.
 
The draw reflected the even balance of the game in the first 45 minutes of play.  However a penalty only a few minutes into the second half gave Malagueño the lead, which resulted in a 1-4 victory over Cluj.  An outstanding performance from the second ‘Malaguista’ team, against a side that took part in the UEFA Champions League.
