Málaga CF and FC Barcelona are two old acquaintances in the Copa de Campeones. The MCF Academy team and that of La Masía faced each other in the first match of this competition last year, which ended in a 4-2 win for the Malaguistas.
The Blue and Whites reach the final stage of the tournament by winning División de Honor Juvenil Group IV. David Cabello’s boys claimed the top spot with 72 points, scoring 86 goals and conceding 27 (+59).
Barcelona did the same in Group III with some very similar numbers. They won the league with 72 points, based on 74 goals scored and 18 conceded (+56).
On the Malaguista squad four players remain who lived #MálagaBarça last season. This time around they are again in the line-up: Iván Jaime, Yousef, Juande and Hugo, who all played the game from the outset.
It was precisely Hugo who has a fond memory of the duel, as he opened the scoring in minute 15 of play.
