Duda, who returned to step on to the revamped pitch at the Ramón de Carranza, sent out an early warning with a powerful shot in front of the area, deflected by Cádiz keeper, Jesús Fernández.  Málaga enjoyed a few other opportunities, but they didn’t materialise in the first half.  Cádiz also approached the Blue and Whites’ area, but Aarón was very secure in the face of the rival.  There were still no goals as the first half came to an end.

The Blue and Whites’ coach brought on Pablo Fornals in the second half, in substitution of Michael Santos.  Málaga continued to approach the rival area, and a hand ball from Carpio inside the area led to a penalty.  Charles converted the goal from the penalty spot (50’) to put the visitors 0-1 up on the score board.

Juande Ramos made various changes in the initial minutes of the second half.  Recio, Chory and Sandro were replaced by Kuzmanovic, Jony and Nesyri.  The latter scored the second goal (minute 75) following a fantastic pass from Juankar on the left wing.  Charles was later substituted by Kuki.  Just when the definitive result looked set to be 0-2, Aitor García scored for the Yellows in minute 89.

The Blue and Whites held on to the result in the final minutes and defeated Cádiz by 1-2.  With this victory, Málaga win the Carranza Cup for the very first time.  Juanpi was named MVP of the tournament.
